Martin Kemp is an English actor, director, and musician, best known as the bassists of Spandau Ballet and for starring as Steve Owen in ‘Eastenders’.
Martin began his career as a child, appearing alongside his brother Gary in shows such as ‘Jackanory’ and ‘The Tomorrow People’. After securing an apprenticeship at a print factory, Martin quickly grew disillusioned but soon found his big break by joining his brother’s band The Gentry, which was later renamed Spandau Ballet.
Spandau Ballet had great success in the 1980’s, with four of their albums reaching the Top 10 and participated in Bob Geldof’s charity single ‘Do They Know it’s Christmas?’. Though they split up in the early 1990s, the reformed in 2009 and have since toured the world multiple times.
Aside from his musical Success, Martin has starred in films such as ‘The Krays’ (1990), and ‘Embrace of the Vampire’ (1994). He has most recently appeared in ‘Father Brown’ (2017) and ‘Birds of a Feather’ (2016), as well as ‘The Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls’.
