Sean Bean has been nominated for Leading Actor and Anna Friel for Supporting Actress for their performances in Broken, a six-part television drama series aired on BBC One. Broken tells the story of a priest, played by Bean, who was abused as a boy and is now trying to help a poor but close-knit Northern community, as he struggles with doubts about his own faith. Friel plays a vulnerable single mum struggling to look after her children in bleak and difficult circumstances. The duo’s performances touched the hearts of viewers around the UK. "A BAFTA nomination for Sean Bean and Anna Friel is very well deserved”, says BrokenProducer Colin McKeown. “They gave heart-wrenching and wonderful performances that were unforgettable. I wish Sean and Anna the very best of luck, they deserve to be handed that famous statue in May and I hope to see and hear them accepting their respective awards.” The prestigious BAFTA TV awards will be held at the Royal Festival Hall in London on Sunday 13 May.
